Mimi McCain

Mimi’s interest in real estate law grew from her personal experiences and a drive to make homeownership accessible to all. After earning her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of North Florida in 1991, she pursued her law degree at Georgia State University College of Law, graduating in 1995.

She worked in litigation the first six years of her career until attorney friends she knew through the Stonewall Bar Association suggested a shift to real estate law. Remembering how her childhood changed for the better when her single mom became a homeowner, the idea of helping young people and families build wealth through home ownership was appealing. Plus, especially compared to litigation, real estate law offered the prospect of practicing in a realm that was relationship-driven – an opportunity too good to pass up.

After almost three decades’ experience, Mimi is known for her keen eye in spotting potential issues before they become costly problems. She’s uncovered undisclosed sewer lines and potential development issues, and addressed permit violations, protecting clients’ earnest money and preventing conditions that can derail investment success. The people she serves appreciate her ability to calmly navigate stressful situations and her skill in simplifying complex legal terms, ensuring every closing runs smoothly as possible.

She enjoys keeping abreast of developments in the industry, learning from other Ganek lawyers, her involvement in the Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorneys Association (GRECAA), continuing legal education and following industry blogs. She regularly shares her knowledge by leading continuing education courses for realtors.

Mimi’s community involvement reflects her dedication to creating opportunities for others. She actively supports fair housing initiatives and down payment assistance programs, striving to make homeownership more attainable for families. A resident of West Midtown, Atlanta, Mimi enjoys downtime with family at their Lake Oconee retreat, plus pickleball, travel and exploring new cultures.
